Project summary:

At the project's core is the ambition to transform urban landscapes within the programme area. The project aims to revitalize urban areas with green parks, vibrant green spaces, and cutting-edge technology for continuous environmental monitoring. By bridging urban planning, ecology, and technology, the project creates a roadmap for sustainable urban communities.

Project investment activities in Municipality of Dupnitsa include: Green spaces in Dupnitsa (newly developed and existing), covering an area of 2,50 ha thoughtfully designed to enhance urban ecology, provide quiet gathering places for community members, and serve as a model for future environmentally friendly urban planning in the region; provision of the necessary equipment and infrastructure required - sourcing and installing everything from seating areas, recreational facilities, to landscaping tools, irrigation systems, and safety features. The scope of the investment project for green infrastructure at Dupnitsa city covers 10 locations.

Project investment activities in Municipality of Kriva Palanka include: A newly established Green Park in Kriva Palanka, covering an area of 0,18 ha, designed to foster urban biodiversity, provide recreational opportunities for residents, and set a benchmark for sustainable green space initiatives in urban landscapes; provision of the necessary equipment and infrastructure required - sourcing and installing everything from recreational facilities to landscaping tools, irrigation systems, and safety features. The location of the investment is Kriva Palanka – “Joakim Osogovsky” Str.

The project will develop the Green Cadaster for Dupnitsa and Kriva Palanka as a digital tool to map urban green spaces and natural resources, tracking ecological changes and providing data on soil and biodiversity. This is essential for informed urban planning and environmental sustainability.

Designed as a series of events, Green Days will include interactive workshops, hands-on learning sessions and community engagement events. From showcasing the importance of native plant species in our ecosystems to understanding the complex dance of urban planning that respects both development and nature, each event is meant to be an enlightening experience.
