On 01.07.2024, the contracts for the five approved project proposals from Priority 1 "Greener border region" of the Interreg VI-A IPA Bulgaria-North Macedonia Programme were signed at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works in Sofia, with a total value of 4.1 million euros.
The projects are:
project BGMK0300051 with title: "Green Pulse Cross-Border Pact" - with a total value of 945 135 euros, with project partners the Municipality of Petrich and the Municipality of Strumica;;
project BGMK0300053 with title: "PARKS - Preserving Areas through Regional Knowledge and Sustainability" - with a total value of 894 829 euros, with project partners Municipality of Dupnitsa and Municipality of Kriva Palanka;
project BGMK0300055 with title: "Let's Invite the Nature In Our Cities" - with a total value of 866 534 euros, with project partners the Municipality of Bansko and the Municipality of Vinica;
project BGMK0300060 with title: "Transforming of urban sites with Green infrastructures" - with a total value of 867,653 euros and project partners Municipality of Gotse Delchev, Municipality of Stip and East Planning Region;
project BGMK0300064 titled "Urban greening for healthy breathing" - with a total value of 541 709 euros with project partners Municipality of Kyustendil, Municipality of Kumanovo and North-East Planning Region.
The projects carry out activities with a specific objective "Enhancing protection and preservation of nature, biodiversity, and green infrastructure, including in urban areas, and reducing all forms of pollution" which would contribute to development of "green" infrastructure (GI) in urban and peri-urban areas, whose wide effects positively impact human health and wellbeing, support a green economy, create job opportunities and enhance biodiversity.
