Once again, cross-border relations show real results. Good symbiosis between two countries invariably leads to positive results from which citizens can draw inspiration, security and peace of mind. With each implemented project, in addition to the implementation of the set goals, sustainable convergence between the regions is sought, which will be preserved over time.
This time, the focus is on Strumica and Petrich - two regions that share not only a common border, but also similar challenges, potential for development and the pursuit of a better future for their residents. Their joint activities are already yielding results, and the ones presented below will be precisely those implemented in Strumica.
The Karposh quarter enjoys a brand new park, improved and landscaped through the Interreg-IPA Programme between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia 2021-2027. Strumica began the construction of a modern green space that connects people on both sides of the border. The new green zone is the result of targeted investments in improving the quality of life of local residents. The official opening of the park was attended by the the mayor of Strumica, the deputy mayor of Petrich and authorities of Strumica, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two municipalities and the common commitment to the development of a green and sustainable environment.
The total budget of the project amounts to over 940,000 euros, with investments aimed at improving ecological connectivity and creating a better quality of life for over 53,000 people in the cross-border region.
