Over half a million euros is the planned budget for improvements in Kumanovo and Kyustendil — an investment that places people at the heart of change. The true value of this project lies not only in the new facilities and upgrades, but in the opportunities it creates for the residents of these two wonderful cities and in the improvement of their quality of life.
Kumanovo residents need a place where they can spend their free time, play sports, meet friends and create memories with their families. That is why the focus of the project is directed at modernizing the public infrastructure, creating and renovating green spaces and improving access to public services. According to the locals, their park had been forgotten for decades and was in an uninviting state, and therefore was not visited with desire, which makes its renovation one of the most visible results - with new alleys, modern and energy-efficient lighting, recreation and sports areas, as well as rich landscaping.
The park is the result of cross-border cooperation - the project is being implemented under the Programme Interreg VI-A IPA Bulgaria - North Macedonia 2021-2027, with the participation of the Municipality of Kumanovo, the Municipality of Kyustendil and the Center for Development of the Third North-Eastern Region - North Macedonia. But it is only part of a large-scale project:
📍 In Kyustendil, two green urban areas should be renovated, the "Ezerata" eco-park should be renovated too, through new educational exhibition spaces, a botanical alley and landscaping, and last but not least, a recreation area should be established in the central part of the city.
📍 Kumanovo will renovate and green a total of 5 urban spaces:
• Blvd. "October Revolution" with 330 new trees
• "Third MUB" – 180 new trees
• New green area and community garden at SIU "Pero Nakov"
• Landscaping of "Marshal Tito" Square
• Improvement of green areas in the yard of "Prof. Mijalkovich" School
The implemented activities are an important step towards a more modern, sustainable and attractive region, in which cooperation between communities brings real results that make the daily life of residents more beautiful! Kumanovo deserves it!
