Kumanovo 29.04.2026

The Ministry of Local Self-Government, acting as the national authority for Interreg cross-border cooperation programmes, has launched a series of regional consultations as part of the preparation of the new programmes for the 2028–2034 programming period.

The regional consultations in Kumanovo were held at the Craftsmen’s House and focused on the future development of the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme with Bulgaria. The emphasis was placed on identifying the needs and potentials for cooperation in the cross-border region, as well as defining priorities for the next programming period.

The event gathered more than 50 representatives from municipalities, institutions, planning regions, and civil society organisations from the eastern part of North Macedonia, who actively participated in the discussion and provided concrete proposals and guidance for the future development of the programme.

The consultations aim to familiarize stakeholders with the initial draft documents and priorities, as well as to ensure their active involvement in the programming process.

The consultation process will continue in the upcoming period with the aim of developing an effective and sustainable programme that addresses the real needs of the cross-border region.
