REGIOSTARS Awards 2026

REGIOSTARS Awards 2026

Do you have an EU-funded project that has made a real difference in your region?
Has it introduced a new solution, improved services, created a greener environment or opened up more opportunities for people?

Then REGIOSTARS Awards 2026 is your chance to go beyond your region and showcase your results across Europe.

Since 2008, the REGIOSTARS competition, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO), has been recognising the most inspiring EU-funded projects – those that not only have been successfully implemented, but have also left a lasting impact on regional development.

Why apply?

Taking part in REGIOSTARS gives you the opportunity to:

  • receive European recognition for your work;

  • promote your project results at international level;

  • inspire other regions and organisations to replicate your solutions;

  • become part of the network of Europe’s best EU-funded projects.

Is your project a good fit?

Ask yourself:
Has your project delivered real benefits for the local community? Did it introduce a new or innovative approach? Has it contributed to the economic, social or environmental development of your region? Are the results sustainable over time and transferable to other regions?

If your answer is “yes”, REGIOSTARS 2026 is the right place for your project.

REGIOSTARS 2026 categories

Projects will be assessed in five categories:

  • A Competitive and Smart Europe

  • A Green Europe

  • A Connected Europe

  • A Social and Inclusive Europe

  • A Europe Closer to the Citizens

How are the winners selected?

Submitted projects are evaluated by a jury of high-level experts. The finalists and winners will be announced during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels in October 2026. In parallel, citizens from across Europe will be able to vote online for their favourite project. The awarded initiatives will also receive additional communication support to promote their results at European level.

How to apply?

The deadline for applications is 22 May 2026.
Applications must be submitted online via the EU Survey platform. The process is supported by guidance documents, templates and sample forms, including an endorsement letter signed by the Managing Authority. Applications are accepted in all official EU languages.
